Liberty Trails review: Riding the 2024 Tor to Tor
I was a paying customer on the Tor to Tor, but this article contains affiliate links.
I have followed Libery Trails for years, daydreaming about galloping across Dartmoor, when finally this year, I bit the bullet and booked the luxury riding holiday for myself. I described it to friends as ‘ladies who lunch meets Wuthering Heights’ - the combination of fast, exhilarating riding across Dartmoor, combined with the luxury of landing on a ‘soft pillow’ of coffee breaks on the moors, personal-chef designed lunches and five star luxury accomodation.
The horses were incredibly fit and responsive, but safe and kind. Elaine, who runs Liberty Trails, took great pains to ensure that we all felt comfortable each day. The evenings were filled with fantastic entertainment and great food and company - everyone who came on the Tor to Tor was just lovely.
To get a proper feel for the experience - watch my three-part YouTube series on the experience below, or keep reading for my packing list.
My packing essentials:
A snood or neckscarf, I took this Toggi one, but Redpost has tonnes of options
Toggi’s winter baselayers - I love the dark green colour from this season
Ditto Toggi’s winter legwear
A body protector - I use the Champion Ti22
Your own stirrups! Makes for a much more comfy ride when you’re in the saddle for hours a day - I use Tech Stirrups which have both grip and a safety stirrup element.
